Underground sprinkler
system
Usually installed before planting a lawn, they are the most efficient,
sophisticated and cost efficient lawn sprinkler systems you can have for
your lawn. After installing the underground pipe system (make sure you
install it in a way that it covers most of your lawn) the system is
connected to automatic timers and in-ground moisture sensors so that the
lawn is watered only when it needs it. You can also set the timers to start
watering when you are away from home, or you can adjust the system to start
watering your lawn every day in a specific time. The control box for the
system is usually installed in the garage. Another advantage of this system
is that it will require very minimal effort from your part. If you have this
kind of lawn sprinkler system we
recommend to set the timer for watering every day at
5 a.m. for 30
minutes
in the summer and
10-5 minutes
in fall/winter times ( average ).
Most systems are unlikely to break-down, they are very popular and can be
found at almost every irrigation stores, usually these systems comes with
detailed information on
how to install and use the system.
Advantages:
efficient, money saving
Disadvantages:
if you plan to install it alone, it will require couple days of work, and
overall with underground installation, pipes, sprinklers and control panel
it will cost you some money……

Hose-end lawn sprinkler system
There are five main
types of hose-end lawn sprinkler
systems:
1)
Oscillating
Sprinklers:
are the most popular sprinklers today. The sprinkler is built in a way that
it has a tube on its top, with several nozzles on it, that "oscillates" back
and forth. The Oscillating Sprinklers are very easy to install ( just
connect it to the hose), they usually spray water streams up into the air in
a linear way and have the ability to cover large square-types areas,
generally it will provide you twenty by thirty feet coverage of lawn.
Because of their popularity, they can be found in almost every irrigation
store with low prices.
2)
Rotating
sprinklers:
Rotating lawn sprinkler systems spray water in a round pattern usually
between fifteen or twenty feet in diameter, depending on water pressure,
they are built with two or three spry arms that spins while it is watering
your lawn. Usually the tips of the sprinkler can be adjusted, that way it
gives you the ability to determine the size of the area being watered.
Rotating sprinklers are also widely used and can be found in regular stores,
with various prices.
3)
Traveling
sprinklers:
are self-propelled sprinklers that look like a small tractor with two
rear wheels. They are designed to cover large and irregular areas. The
watering is made by a rotating sprinkler on its top
4)
Impulse lawn
sprinklers:
must be the oldest kind of sprinklers; known by the “click- click “sound that
the sprinkler produces when it is rotating. They cover circular or half
circular areas and are highly adjustable, but in most cases this type is
harder to install.
5)
Box/rectangle shaped
lawn sprinkler system: have limited coverage, designed to irrigate small
areas or “holes” in your lawn that are not covered by other sprinklers.
Working with low water pressure they come in several shapes like: rectangle,
square and cone. New models have adjustable heads that can spray water in a
number of ways and directions.
